The top five tries from week one of Super Rugby.

Super Rugby round one is in the books and it was a mixed bag for Australia's teams.

The Brumbies were the only Aussies to clinch a win on the opening weekend, beating the Reds, with the Rebels losing to the Sunwolves and the Waratahs going down to the Crusaders.

With the first lot of games down, that means the Australian team of the week is back.

For the first time, we're giving you a say on who you think the best player of the week was.

1. Scott Sio

The Brumbies pack was Wallaby-laden on Friday night and it showed as the game progressed in Canberra. Sio was an anchor for the side at loosehead in a strong opening performance.

2. Folau Fainga'a

Similarly to Sio, Fainga'a picked up where he left off in Super Rugby as the competition began again. Was a key part of a strong pack performance in Canberra.

3. Allan Alaalatoa

Captaincy clearly agrees with Alaalatoa, who led the Brumbies for the first time last Friday night. The tighthead prop was as consistent as ever and continued the mentality that the Brumbies have showcased in recent years, looking to the corner and taking scrums when penalty chances arose.

4. Darcy Swain

5. Lukhan Salakaia-Loto

The Reds might have ultimately lost the battle of the packs in Canberra but they started in strong fashion and Salakaia-Loto was a big part of that. Moving back into the second row after trying to establish himself as a six last season, he didn't miss a beat.

6. Rob Valetini

Valetini's potential has always been known but fitness has always been his issue. If the flanker can continue to perform in the way he did on Friday night and stay injury-free, this could finally be his year. Had 10 carries, eight tackles and a turnover in an effective outing.

7. Michael Hooper

Michael Hooper was at his impressive best against the Crusaders. Photo: Getty ImagesIt was a tough night for the Waratahs in Nelson but Hooper showed he will still be setting the bar in Super Rugby. Won four turnovers against the defending champions in a performance that might quiet some of his critics

8. Harry Wilson

Harry Wilson was in beast mode in Canberra on Friday night. Made metres with basically every touch of the ball and imposed himself physically on the contest. He set the standard in the Reds' final trial and looks to be continuing that already.  Could be a serious contender come Wallabies season.

9. Jake Gordon

Gordon has staked an early claim for the Wallabies no. 9 jersey in the most open race for the spot in recent times. The 26-year-old was a key linkman for the Waratahs in New Zealand and provided great support for young flyhalf Will Harrison in the latter's Super Rugby debut.

10. Noah Lolesio

Possible the least lauded of the flyhalf prospects going into 2020, Lolesio showed he could be the best of the lot. Showed very good composure against the Reds, though took some

11. Mark Nawaqanitawase

Marky Mark had a hesitant start but spectacular second half for the Waratahs as they faced the toughest assignment in Super Rugby. Nawaqanitawase scored two spectacular tries but was also praised by coach Rob Penney for his work supporting his more experienced teammates in the backline.

12. James O’Connor

O'Connor impressed in his first Super Rugby outing since 2015, teaming up with rookie Jordan Petaia in the midfield. The 29-year-old made a crucial nine tackles in an important defensive performance.

13. Tevita Kuridrani

Kruidrani was typically solid in his performance at outside centre  Ran for 47 metres off eight carries and made seven tackles on the other side of the ball as well.

14. Tom Wright

Wright looks at home on the wing and had an industrious game on the edge for the Brumbies on Friday night. Finished with a try, 71 run metres and three defenders beaten.

15. Tom Banks

Banks lit up GIO stadium on Friday night in the Brumbies' win over the Reds, finishing off an impressive score as the ACT outfit eked out a win. Will surely push himself up the fullback pecking order this year at a national level, if he continues in this vein.
