Wallabies and Brumbies hooker Folau Fainga’a has committed for a further two seasons in Australia after signing a contract extension.

Fainga’a was on contract through to the end of 2020 but has signed a new deal through to the end of 2022 by Rugby Australia and the Brumbies.

A part-time concreter only three years ago, the 24-year-old hooker has progressed rapidly in the last two years after making both his his Super Rugby and Test debut in 2018.

He finished the 2019 season as the Brumbies highest try scorer with 12 tries.

The retention of Fainga’a will be crucial for the Wallabies given leading no.2 Tolu Latu is reportedly set to join Stade Francais, leaving only Jordan Uelese and Brandon Paenga-Amosa as the other hookers with Test expeience.

“I am very happy to have been able to sign an early extension to my contract and am looking forward to achieving my rugby goals with both the Brumbies and the Wallabies,” Fainga’a said in a Rugby Australia release.

“It’s great to have my immediate future sorted early and I am aiming to build on a personally successful 2019 season which went well for me.
