The University of Queensland is in the box seat to claim a second Aon Uni 7s title in three years heading into the final round of competition in Canberra this weekend.

After snaring the first round at their home campus at St Lucia, UQ made the final in round two and round three to hold a six-point lead heading into the final round of the series this weekend.

Despite losing to defending champions Griffith University in round two at Bond and being outclassed by Sydney Uni in the final of round three in Adelaide, UQ have been the most consistent side this season and only a finish outside the top four - as well as victory by either Griffith or Sydney, will prevent them from taking the title.

But with Aussie Sevens players to filter back into their Aon teams for the final round, anything is possible.

After playing the season-opener, the national team members headed to Colorado for the opening round of the world series and were rested a fortnight ago, having just returned to Australia.

Their presence could change the equation for some teams, with podium placings for the series - and final-round honours up for grabs.

All games from both days' play will be streamed LIVE at RUGBY.com.au.
