Long-time Canberra rugby figure Vikki Fischer and Canberra businessman David Kenyon have joined the Brumbies board.

Kenyon and Fischer's appointments were announced on Wednesday, with former chairman Rob Kennedy officially stepping down from the board.

Former ANU front rower, Fischer was part of the creation of rugby program Rugbytots, an initiative that introduces parents and children to rugby.

Kenyon has been involved in grassroots rugby and is a long-time Brumbies member.

Brumbies chairman Phil Thomson said the pair would bring more experience and rugby knowledge to the board.

“Both David and Vikki will bring a wealth of knowledge and business experience to the Board as well as a passion for the game of rugby and the region.  The appointments continue our commitment to the ongoing development of a strong skills-based Board and I am sure that the addition of the pair will be a great success.”

Kennedy's departure will end his 20-year involvement with the Brumbies, and Thomson paid tribute to him on Wednesday.

“I would like to thank Rob for his contributions to the Brumbies and ACT Rugby over the last twenty years,” Plus500 Brumbies Chairman Phil Thomson commented.

“As Chairman and Director over the last three years, Rob committed an extraordinary amount of time and energy to guide the organisation through some very challenging times.

“The position that the organisation is in today, and the stability and the respect that the Brumbies have, is due to the work that Rob has undertaken over the last couple of years.”
