Brumbies speedster Lausii Taliauli admits he feels very fortunate to have penned a new two-year deal with the Canberra based side.
After making his debut for the club in round one of 2015, the 24-year-old has had an injury plagued career, a torn ACL at the start of this season the latest setback.
“It’’s definitely a boost for me that the coaches have belief in me that I have a lot more to offer, especially with the limited game time I’ve had over the last few seasons,” Taliauli said.
“I’m just looking forward to playing some good games and backing that [faith] up.”
Brumbies coach in waiting Dan McKellar said the Wellington born winger had plenty of potential and was looking forward to seeing him back in full flight.
“Lausii is a winger that has genuine try scoring ability,” McKellar said.
“Importantly, he brings size and physicality to the back-line.
“Although he has been unlucky with injury this season, we are confident that he will return to full fitness and reach his potential in our program.”
The former Australian Sevens representative revealing the current uncertainty surrounding Super Rugby did add some anxiety around his playing future.
“It’s pretty scary for a lot of the boys, especially one’s that are off contract and seeing players like Dane Haylett-Petty from the Western Force and thinking if they get cut where would they land,” Taliauli said.
“It’s pretty scary times but I’m just really happy to be here with the Brumbies for the next two seasons.”
Taliauli’s new deal with see him stay with the club until the end of 2019.
