The Australian Women's Sevens team will be looking to go one better in Clermont Ferrand this weekend, after falling to Canada in the final last year.
The gold medal was far from the biggest prize on offer, though, as simply making the final ensured the Aussies were crowned World Series champions.
That won't be the case this year, as the team has struggled to replicate the consistent success they enjoyed last year and subsequently sit third on the ladder, so finishing with gold in France is top priority for Tim Walsh's team.
“We know we haven’t performed to the standards we strive for this season and we have to own and live with that as we look towards the next HSBC Women’s Sevens World Series," Walsh said."We have a chance in Clermont Ferrand to finish the 2017 season the way we ended the 2016 season.
“We came into this season as the hunted and now we are the hunters again.
"The bitter taste of winning silver and bronze, with some complacency from winning gold has been the difference.
“We have talked about the need to win every moment of the matches we play and we know we face these challenges in a tough pool."Walsh's squad for Clermont Ferrand is a strong one, with Ellia Green the only notable name missing due to injury.
Cassie Staples has been rewarded for her strong showing at the Canada Sevens with her second cap, while Evania Pelite will make her return from a knee injury.
Co-captain Sharni Williams also joins the squad after playing for the Wallaroos in New Zealand on Tuesday.
