The format of Super Rugby in 2018 will be publicly known on Sunday night, SANZAAR confirmed on Saturday.

Super Rugby's governing body issued a media alert on Saturday night, confirming they would be announcing the competition format for 2018 at 6pm AEST Sunday.

While SANZAAR will clarify the overall format, exactly which teams are involved in that will likely not be known then.

The ARU is holding a board meeting on Sunday afternoon to vote on its preferred format, and which team would be cut if the 15-team model is agreed to.

Which team that might be will not be announced until at least Monday, even with SANZAAR's decision made public on Sunday night.

The announcement will almost immediately follow the final round seven game, between the Force and the Kings - two clubs who have been in the middle of speculation around their survival in recent weeks.
