The Queensland Reds U20s have strengthened their grip at the top of the competition with a commanding 46-15 win over the Western Force U20s in Perth.

The hosts suffered an early blow with powerful forward Shambeckler Vui succumbing to a head clash in the opening ten minutes.

Queensland made the most of the early ascendency as Sam Edwards found the ball on the wing to score the first try of the afternoon.

Five minutes later, his opposite wing Will Eadie put his name on the board mirroring Edwards' effort on the other edge and a Harry Nucifora conversion made it 14-0.

The Force tried to settle into the contest but Nucifora increased the Reds' lead with a penalty before Effie Ma’afu and captain Liam Wright added tries to further consolidate the margin.

Force flyhalf Anthony Hondros  put the first points on the board for the home side as the half time siren sounded with Queensland leading 31-3.

The Reds began where they left off in the first half with outside centre Dylan Riley given too much space and adding another five-pointer.

The Force made a fist at a comeback attempt with back-to-back tries through Jordan Holgate and Brody Macaskill.

The Reds weathered the charge from the home side, Alex Horan adding a penalty goal with 15 minutes left to play to stretch their lead.

Angus Blyth sealed the win with less than a minute left, notching his first try of the competition.
