NSW reserve flyhalf Bryce Hegarty will have a second chance to prove his Super Rugby credentials at the Waratahs, after being re-signed for 2017.
Hegarty crossed from the Melbourne Rebels to the Waratahs in 2016, after a stint in the Japanese Top League, but lasted just two rounds into the season, rupturing his ACL in the NSW clash against the Brumbies.
Hegarty has working tirelessly in his recovery, having recently started running once again and Waratahs head coach Daryl Gibson said he was looking forward to seeing Hegarty back in action in 2017.
“Bryce has been working hard on his rehabilitation and returning as a better athlete,” Gibson said.
“His season was cruelly cut short this year, but he is on track for a return in pre-season and is keen to perform for the team in 2017.
“Bryce brings a lot of experience and guidance in a position where, nationally, depth is being tested. So I’m really looking forward to how he can add to the new energy of the team next season.”
The timing of his injury means that Hegarty is likely to manage a full pre-season ahead of the 2017 Super Rugby season.
