NRC: Three Wallabies Stars to remain with UC Vikings in 2015

Tue, Jul 28, 2015, 5:00 AM

Christian Lealiifano, Henry Speight and Joe Tomane will be affiliated to the University of Canberra Vikings for the 2015 Buildcorp National Rugby Championship.

Lealiifano, Speight and Tomane featured for the Vikings in 2014, in between appearances for the Wallabies during The Rugby Championship.

Lealiifano ran out for the UC Vikings first three games of the 2014 NRC season, helping his side to record two wins.

Tomane and Speight played one match each, and depending on Wallabies selection all three players are expected to feature again in 2015. The trio also supported the Vikings on numerous occasions by running water to players during matches they were deemed unavailable.

The trio is contracted to the Brumbies Super Rugby franchise and may square up against a number of Brumbies and Wallabies teammates, who were today aligned to other NRC clubs.

Sam Carter and Matt Toomua will represent NSW Country Eagles while Scott Sio and Scott Fardy have been aligned to Sydney-based side North Harbour Rays.

Tomane said he’s excited to run out for the Vikings again in 2015 alongside some great up and coming players in Australian Rugby.

“Players like Ita Vaea and Rod Iona will be some of the players to watch, no doubt,” Tomane said.

The UC Vikings full playing is expected to be announced next week.

The Vikings will play four home matches during the season at Viking Park. The first will be a Round Three matchup against the Greater Sydney Rams on Saturday, 5 September (2pm).
