The Western Force have dominated the round 11 Team of the Week after a impressive 40-22 over the Sunwolves on Saturday, with six player featuring.
1. Francois Van Wyk
Stepped up in the absence of Pek Cowan and enjoyed his best game of 2016, highlighted by his break to set up Marcel Brache for one of his three tries.
2. Tatafu Polota-Nau
A huge improvement from the Waratahs set piece on Saturday night, with Polota-Nau’s return to the starting side for the first time since round two having a major influence.
3. Tom Robertson
Consistently contributing in the Tahs front row in his first season at the club. A solid scrummager who moves around the park well.
4. Adam Coleman
An 80-minute performance from the big man and he was strong around the park with seven tackles to go with a lineout steal off the Sunwolves throw.
5. Rob Simmons
Fought hard in a tough defeat for the Reds. Was impeccable at lineout time with Queensland operating at 100% - Simmons took eight of them, and managed a steal on the Crusaders throw.
6. Scott Fardy
Yet another standout display from the Wallaby incumbent. Fardy forced two turnovers at the breakdown, was his team’s third highest tackler and a continual target at lineout time.
7. Matt Hodgson
A weekend-high 20 tackles for the Force. The inspirational leader is an absolute machine in defence having made 30 more tackles than anyone else in Super Rugby this season.
8. Ben McCalman
Forced his way over for a try in the 52nd minute at time when the match could have gone either way. McCalman accompanied his try with 11 tackles and a turnover in defence.
9. Tomas Cubelli
Starting to find his feet at the Brumbies having impressed in consecutive weeks. His keenness to take the quick tap at penalties has added some attacking flair to the Brumbies side.
10. Bernard Foley
Became the equal highest capped flyhalf for the Waratahs on Saturday night and showed his experience in a dominant display for the Waratahs scoring 16 of their 21 points.
11. Luke Morahan
Started the season in fine fashion before being struck down by injury. Morahan has returned in the last weeks and put in influential performances. Could be a Wallabies bolter come June.
12. Kurtley Beale
Isn’t letting the uncertainty of where he’ll be playing next year let alone for the Wallabies get to him. Continually adds spark to the Waratahs backline as shown by his almost try assist that slipped past Reece Robinson in the 68th minute.
13. Tevita Kuridrani
A lot of chatter has been about the what number Israel Folau will have on his back come Wallabies season, but the incumbent Wallaby 13 isn’t going about his business as usual, notching up a team high 101 run metres.
14. Marcel Brache
Brache became the four Force player in their history to score a hat-trick and amazinginly he did it inside the opening 20 minutes. Brache had a great day out setting up a huge victory for the Force.
15. Dane Haylett-Petty
A typically solid performance from the Force fullback. Has become a leader of the club and someone coach Michael Foley knows will perform week in, week out.
