Brumbies vs Hurricanes
Super Rugby Semi final 2015
The Hurricanes snapped a four-game losing streak against the Brumbies in 2015, with a 29-9 victory in the Super Rugby semi final. The Hurricanes earned the Super Rugby final hosting rights from that win, ultimately finishing runner-up.
Rd 4, 2014 Brumbies 29 def Hurricanes 21
A 72nd minute Lachlan McCaffrey try kept the Hurricanes at arm’s length in an eight-point win for the Brumbies in Wellington in 2014. leading by one point McCaffrey’s try, converted by halfback Nic White, clinched a tight win. A 78th minute try to Blade Thomson couldn’t hand the New Zealanders victory after a tight tussle.
Rd 16, 2013 Brumbies 30 def Hurricanes 23
It was perfect penalty kicking from Christian Lealiifano that proved the ultimate difference for the Brumbies in this 2013 clash in Canberra. Six three-pointers off Lealiifano’s boot set the tone as the sides scored two tries apiece.
Waratahs vs Reds
Rd 18, 2015 - Waratahs 31 def Reds 5
The Waratahs claimed a convincing victory over the Reds to end their regular Super Rugby season at Allianz Stadium. Scoring four tries to one in the NSW win, Waratahs flyhalf Bernard Foley also had a perfect night on the boot. Quade Cooper scored the sole try for Queensland in the match. A yellow card for Adam Thomson soured the night further for Queensland.
Rd 4, 2015 Waratahs 23 - Reds 5
A last-gasp Marco Kotze try saved the Reds from a scoreless loss to their fierce rivals. Crippled by injury, the Reds reshuffled their line up just shy of kick-off, with usual scrumhalf shifting to 10 in a handful of switches. Waratahs flyhalf Bernard Foley scored all of his team’s points in the opening stanza, before wing Peter Betham joined him on the scorecard.
Rd 19, 2014 Waratahs 34 - Reds 3
The Waratahs laid on three tries to nil in their biggest-ever win over Queensland at Suncorp Stadium to end their regular season. tries to Jono Lance and Kurtley Beale in the opening 20 minutes set the tone for the match. A yellow card to Sekope Kepu put the brakes on the Waratahs’ momentum but that wasn’t enough to give Queensland a stronghold.
Rebels vs Force
Rd 18, 2015 Force 13 - Rebels 11
The Western Force claimed a confidence-boosting victory over their cross-country rivals, with a gritty win over Melbourne to finish off their regular season. Rebels fullback Mike Harris missed a drop goal in the final minute that could have clinched the low-scoring affair for the home side.
Rd 5, 2015 Rebels 21 - Force 17
Melbourne survived a late comeback from the Force to clinch a four-point win over the WA franchise in Perth. Mike Harris and Dom Shipperley crossed for the Rebels in the first 22 minutes before the Force hit back through Alby Mathewson just shy of half time. A 75th minute try from Tetera Faulkner narrowed the score but the Force ultimately ran out of time.
Rd 10, 2014 Rebels 22 - Force 16
The Rebels ended the Force’s five-win streak with a victory midway through the 2014 season. Scott Higginbotham scored the game’s first try in the 61st minute but it was five penalties to Jason Woodward that set up the Rebels’ advantage. An 82nd minute try to Nick Cummins narrowed the final margin to six.
