Wallabies flanker David Pocock has taken out the ABC Grandstand Sports Personality of the Year at the AIS Sports Performance Awards.
Pocock beat out a number of high profile Australian sporting stars to claim the award, voted on by the public.
The 27-year-old caught the public's attention with a standout 2015 season, culminating in a dominant World Cup campaign for the Wallabies that put him in contention for the World Rugby Player of the Year award.
Off the field, Pocock has garnered public affection with his strong stance on social justice issues.
Past winners of the Sports Personality of the Year award have included Paralympian Kurt Fearnley, while surfer Mick Fanning was among those shortlisted in 2016.
The openside flanker is preparing to start his 2016 Brumbies season against the Hurricanes on Friday night.
The Wallabies were nominated for the Destination NSW Team of the Year award, while Wallabies coach Michael Cheika was nominated for the Coach of the Year.
