This week’s rugby.com.au poll results reveal that fans believe the Stormers will be top the South African Super Rugby conference ahead of last year’s Super Rugby Champions, the Sharks.

Despite the Stormers’ 25 – 17 loss to the Bulls in their first Super Rugby match for 2013, fans still have faith they will finish as the first ranked South African Super Rugby team in this year’s tournament.

Last year, the Cape Town locals finished their Super Rugby campaign with a 26 – 19 semi-final loss to the Sharks, but with international Rugby favourites , Jean de Villiers and Bryan Habana in the mix fans still believe it is the Stormers year.

A top spot for the Stormers would also be a fitting send off for South Africa’s all-time top try-scorer, Bryan Habana with the star winger set to play his final Super Rugby season for the Stormers this year after signing a three-year deal with Toulon.

The Stormers received the clear majority of votes in this week’s poll on 34%, while the Sharks came in second with 27% of the votes. The Sharks were closely followed by the Bulls on 26%.

South African newcomers, the Kings, who made their Super Rugby tournament debut in round 2 last week, received 8% of votes, followed by the Cheetahs with 5%.

The Kings triumphant entry into the South African conference, with a convincing 22-10 win over the Western Force last week gave fans little reason not to inspire some faith in the new team.

The 2013 Super Rugby tournament is now in full swing. Each Super Rugby team will have officially started their 2013 Super Rugby campaign following round 3 this weekend, as the stalwart Crusaders commence their battle with an opening home game at Eden Park against the Blues.

With all five New Zealand teams on board this year’s Super Rugby ride, we’re asking fans which team will finish top of the New Zealand Super Rugby conference this year.
