The Qantas Wallabies continue their climb up the Rugby World Rankings after their eight point win over New Zealand on Saturday night.

The Wallabies started the 2015 international season ranked sixth in the world, however Michael Cheika’s men have now strung together three consecutive victories to move to third place.

The men in gold leaping ahead of South Africa and England in the world rankings and now sit on 86.84 points, 0.05 behind Ireland and 5.88 behind New Zealand.

Australia not only defeated New Zealand for the first time since 2011, they also secured the Rugby Championship for the first time in their history.

The history books stacked well and truly against Australia in Auckland, having not won at Eden Park since 1986.

Head Coach Michael Cheika is focused on the group continuing to develop ahead of Rugby World Cup.

“We need to improve a little bit each day to perform at a level that’s going to keep us competitive.” Cheika said.
