Newly re-signed Qantas Wallabies flyer Henry Speight has admitted he is "pinching himself" after agreeing a three-year contract that will allow him to play for the national XVs side, the Qantas Australian Sevens team as well as the Brumbies in Super Rugby.
The 27-year-old said: "To be honest, I'm pinching myself that I'm in this position, something I thought would not be possible as a kid growing up in Fiji."
"The Australian Sevens team already has some great players in the ranks like Cameron Clark, Ed Jenkins and Pama Fou but I'm looking forward to working with them all."
Speight, who's hero as a kid growing up in Suva was Fijian Sevens legend Waisele Serevi, says that the game now offers those playing the sport opportunities that never previously existed.
"It's probably everyone's dream to play in the Olympics - a few years ago no-one would have thought a Rugby player would have the chance to play in the Olympics. That's become a reality for players now."
Speight will be available for selection for three tournaments in the 2015-16 HSBC World Rugby Sevens Series - Sydney, Hong Kong and London - and cannot wait to pull on the Sevens jersey previously adorned by Australian Rugby royalty - David Campese, Mark Ella and Glen Ella.
"The Sevens in Sydney will be awesome and if I'm lucky enough to be picked by the coach then I'll be giving it my all. It will be a carnival of Rugby featuring fans from so many countries at Allianz Stadium."
However, Speight is quick to stress his immediate focus is on the Qantas Wallabies and the 15-man game, stating he is desperate to impress Head Coach Michael Cheika once his suspension is completed.
"While I'm really excited to be joining the Sevens program, my focus at the moment is getting back into the Wallabies squad for the Bledisloe.
"It was fantastic to see the boys get over the line last weekend against the Springboks and especially my good friend Tevita [Kuridrani], who had such a good game. I think the boys will take a lot of confidence out of that."
