Western Force back Kyle Godwin is confident the team can start anew in 2016.

Godwin is a rare familiar face in new-look Force backline but where he will play this season is yet to be decided.

The 23-year-old played mainly at outside centre in 2015 but with the addition of former Queensland Reds centre Ben Tapuai, Godwin has been training at 12 during pre-season.

With Jono Lance and Peter Grant among the other backline additions that will be heating up competition for spots, Godwin said he was happy to learn from his new teammates and slot in wherever he could

“There is unbelievable competition in the centres and in the halves,” he said.

“It’s going to be great to learn off them.

“It was great learning at 13 last year and training a bit at 12 this year but... wherever the Force see me best or wherever I can contribute to the team the most is where I’ll be playing next year.”

Godwin said the Force hadn’t shied away from their areas of improvement after a disappointing 2015 that yielded just three wins, giving them the worst record in the competition.

“All the boys upon the completion of the season this year were really disappointed,” he said.

“We had a strong review with players and coaches all together, put the things (down) that we want to learn from and put the things (down) that we want to take forward into next year.

“It was a disappointing season but the boys have really put it behind us and we’re really looking forward to 2016."

Godwin said the side was making a concerted effort to move on ahead of next season and urged spectators to keep the faith.

“We’ve had a huge group effort to work on the things we want to put behind us,” he said.

“We’re going to be playing with a bit of speed and width so hopefully we’ll be playing some entertaining rugby.”
