Pia Tapsell

Pia Tapsell became the first player to represent both the Wallaroos and Black Ferns in women’s Rugby history when she debuted for Australia in 2026.

Despite her family’s strong Kiwi roots, Tapsell was born in Melbourne where her parents were posted for work at the time.

She then moved back to New Zealand, growing up playing rugby before debuting for the Black Ferns and playing six Tests in 2019.

Tapsell moved to Perth for the Super Rugby Women’s season in 2024 before successfully applying to change allegiances and represent Australia. She debuted against the Black Ferns in August.
