Harry McLaghlin-Phillips became the latest playmaker called into the Wallabies squad as the young fly-half's gradual progression continues.
The talented fly-half was part of Australia’s U20s at the 2023 and 2024 World Rugby U20 Championships, starting every game in the 2024 campaign. In the same year, 'HMP' debuted for the Queensland Reds against the NSW Waratahs in the opening round of Super Rugby Pacific.
A last minute turnover against the Chiefs endeared him to the Reds faithful, starting the next week in victory against the Melbourne Rebels.
He debuted for Australia XV later in 2024 against England A, with the rep honours continuing after McLaughlin-Phillips was selected for the AUNZ Invitational XV during last year’s British and Irish Lions Series.
The Wests product remained on the radar of selectors after his second Australia A appearance and some strong late-season form for the Reds; starting six games in 2026 earned him the initial Wallabies call-up as injury cover for Carter Gordon.
Gordon's leg injury against Argentina opened the door for McLaughlin-Phillips ' official selection in the Wallabies squad to face South Africa, celebrating this with the game-winner for his new club, Western Force, against his old team in the opening round of Super Rugby AUS.
