A Rugby League convert, fast footed Longbottom catapulted into the national eye after performing at the 2016 National Sevens Championship for the Lloyd McDermott Rugby Development side (National Indigenous). Picked up in the Aussie 7s system, Longbottom had several standout matches during the Australian’s pre-season Octoberfest sevens campaign in the 2017-2018 season, that heralded the coming of a new Sevens talent.

Now a full time contracted player, Longbottom scored at all 7 tournaments that he played in last season, accumulating 85 points, in his breakout year Longbottom also received higher honours at both the Rugby World Cup 7s in San Francisco and the 2018 Commonwealth games on the Gold Coast.
