Mahalia Murphy linked up with the Australian Sevens program in August 2015 hailing from Blacktown in Western Sydney. The powerful running forward earned a full-time contract after a string of influential displays in the 2015 Pacific Games in Papua New Guinea. Having represented Australia in both formats of the game, Murphy is a speedy weapon for the Buildcorp Wallaroos to have up their sleeve. Off the field, Murphy works at Rugby Australia in the Community team.
In 2017 Murphy was selected for the Buildcorp Wallaroos squad alongside Sevens teammates Shannon Parry and Sharni Williams for the 2017 Women's World Cup in Dublin, Ireland. Mahalia then later pulled on the boots for the University of Adelaide during the Aon University Sevens Series.
Continuing to fly the flag for both Sevens and XVs in 2018, Mahalia re-joins the Wallaroo’s squad in 2018 to take on New Zealand in August.
