Biography

Simone always had the potential to play at Super Rugby level, but the move from Sydney to the Brumbies provide greater opportunities for the inside back. Born in Auckland, Simone moved to Australia in 2014 and spent two years playing rugby league with South Sydney.

Upon his switch to the 15-man game, he first burst into prominence in 2016 when he was named as Shute Shield Rookie of the Year after a standout season for Norths, playing alongside fellow Brumby, Will Miller.

In 2019, Simone was breathtaking at times, his ability to use power and finesse proving a tall task for defences across the competition.

He finished up with three tries in his 17 appearances, the pick of those a brilliant finish against his former side, the Waratahs, in a famous Brumbies victory.

Simone’s game went to a new level in 2020 though after dominating teams with a short kicking game and a broader passing game.
