The ACT Brumbies U16s are ready to get their Super Rugby U16 campaign underway, naming their team to head south to Melbourne this Saturday for their Round One clash with Rugby Vic U16.
The 2026 Super Rugby U16 championship brings the next generation of Australian rugby talent together, with the ACT Brumbies set to face Victoria, NSW Waratahs, Queensland Reds and Western Force across the tournament.
The full 34-man squad has been selected from clubs and schools from across the ACT & SNSW region and will open their campaign at Holmesglen Reserve, home of Harlequin Rugby Club, with kick-off at 12:30pm on Saturday 19 September.
After weeks on the training paddock, Head Coach Reinhold Kamilo has selected his first matchday squad and says the team is ready to see how that work translates when the whistle blows.
“The boys have prepared really well and they’re genuinely excited to get out there and put the work into practice,” Kamilo said.
“There’s been a lot of effort from the group leading into this. We’ve been working hard on building combinations and getting to know each other’s game and the boys are excited to get on the road, get down to Melbourne and finally play.
“We know Round One is another opportunity to learn and improve, but there’s a real excitement in the group to get out there, play with each other and represent the Brumbies.”
The Brumbies will open their campaign against Rugby Vic before returning to Canberra with plenty more opportunities to test themselves against some of the best young rugby talent from across Australia.
For Canberra rugby fans, the tournament offers a unique opportunity to see multiple Super Rugby U16 matches on home soil, with five matches to be played at Viking Park across four days.
This weekend though, the young Brumbies head south with plenty of excitement and plenty to prove.
The Brumbies U16s’ Round 1 clash against Rugby Victoria will be streamed live on the Rugby.com.au YouTube channel, with every match across the competition available to watch.
