The Wallabies have delivered an incredible 22-12 win over the British & Irish Lions in Sydney.

It was a game that had everything, including a 40 minute delay for lightning, several failed HIAs and gritty periods of defence from both sides.

But it was the hosts who managed the conditions the best as they outclassed the Lions to avoid a clean sweep.

Here's what the players said after the game.

Player of the Match and Wallabies flanker Tom Hooper

“I feel great, we been working very hard as a playing group, not just the guys you see here right now, everyone behind the scenes and the staff. To fill the stands all three weeks has been amazing

“It’s really good to get the reward for all these fans here and it’s a baby step but a step in the right direction.

“We just wanted to get stuck into them in the night and that’s what we did.”

Wallabies captain Harry Wilson

“So proud. Obviously it was a disappointing week after a tough loss so to bounce back the way we did with this 80 minute performance, I’m so proud.

“The crowd today was unbelievable with all Australians behind us, to get the win is so special.

“For us, we wanted this game so badly and everything we had to do, we were going to do.”

Lions hooker Dan Sheehan

“Our goal has been to try and win 3-0 and I thought we gave it everything under harsh circumstances.

“The Wallabies have been in every Test and they deserved the game tonight. It is just disappointing to finish on this, but fair play to the Wallabies, they’ve been excellent and deserve the win.”

Wallabies scrumhalf Nic White

“What a game, that had everything! We saw last week with the performance we put out and the support we got, not just Rugby fans in Australia but Rugby fans in eternal and we wanted to replicate that.

“It wasn't always champagne Rugby, but we were committed to the play, and sometimes, we were able to use our skill and other times, we were desperate.

“It’s pretty nice to finish with a win.“

Wallabies winger Dylan Pietsch

“It’s awesome. Any time you get to play for the Wallabies is awesome, let alone beating the Lions is special and I helped design the jersey so it adds that special sting.

“It’s really cool to be here and see so much support."

“We really wanted to bring the physicality into the game and I liked that type of tactics so it was something we wanted to work on and I think we did pretty well today.”
