The British & Irish Lions dominated the AUNZ Invitational XV, cruising home for a 46-0 win at the Adelaide Oval.

It was one-way traffic as the Lions were near perfect throughout the contest against a team that had only come together last week.

Here's what the players and coaches were saying after the game.

Player of the match Ben Earl

“The bodies are sore but in terms of getting up for this jersey, it’s very easy. We’ve worked so hard for so long to put this shirt on, so we try to take every opportunity we can.

“We had one training session so we know we had to rely on the basics and the work we’ve done in the past couple of weeks and for the most part we did which we’re proud of.

“I think you can see how we want to play going into next week. We’ve got a full week of prep so that’s pretty exciting.”

Lions captain Tadhg Beirne

“Delighted. I think we set out and did everything we said we would and fronted up.

“The most pleasing thing is to keep them to zero and that’s huge for our defence and our confidence heading into next week.

“Every opportunity to wear this jersey is huge and an honour with big shoes to fill. We’re just trying to build performances each game so they put in a serious effort on Wednesday and we tried to up it.”

Lions co-captain David Havili

“The Lions are a tough side and you can see why they are the best in the world.

“I’m proud of the way the boys came together because it was all about connection. I love the way the Aussie and Kiwi boys gelled and whilst we didn’t get the performance, we can be proud of what we did this week as Australia and New Zealand.

“It’s a great week and really good to have these boys, I hope we did our Aussies and Kiwis proud.”

AUNZ number eight Hoskins Sotutu

“It was a really interesting week getting to know some of the Australians but it was good to try and put on a performance. Obviously, not the performance we wanted but the Lions were too good in taking that win. “We knew that this team had only been put together once before so we knew it was a big opportunity but wasn't the result we wanted.”

AUNZ coach Les Kiss

“A little bit disappointing where there were moments we just switched off, like the lineout try in the corner throwing a ball in; there were probably 28 points where it was too simple.

“A lot of boys hadn’t had a run for a while and you can tell towards the end there with a lot of those backs out of position.

“Disappointing with those easy points and how we let them go on a roll, like Ben White’s try there.”
