The Wallabies will take on the All Blacks at the Melbourne Cricket Ground in a blockbuster Bledisloe Cup Test match as part of The Flight Centre Rugby Championship in 2027.

And Melbourne will stage an additional Bledisloe Cup Test match in 2029 as part of a new multi-year agreement between Rugby Australia and the Victorian Government.

Confirmation of the MCG Test completes an historic fixture list for the Wallabies in 2027, which begins with the first ever Bledisloe Cup Test on Anzac Day and concludes with the once-in-a-generation home Rugby World Cup.

The Wallabies will take on the All Blacks at the MCG for the first time in four years on Saturday, July 31. A crowd of 83,944 filled the MCG the last time the two sides met at the famous ground in 2023 – the largest rugby attendance in more than 20 years at the time – and 90,307 watched the Wallabies’ second Test against the British & Irish Lions last year, breaking the Lions’ all-time crowd record.

The MCG Test will be the 185th match played between the Wallabies and the All Blacks in a rivalry that dates back 123 years. It will also see the Bledisloe Cup revert to a three-Test format in 2027, opening with the Anzac Day Test match and followed by the MCG clash and a third Test in New Zealand (venue TBC).

The Wallabies will meet the All Blacks at least one more time in 2027 when they face-off in their second Pool A match of the Rugby World Cup at Accor Stadium on Saturday, October 9. Knock-out matches commence from Saturday, October 23 building up to the final at Accor Stadium on Saturday, November 13.

Rugby Australia CEO Phil Waugh said: “The Melbourne Cricket Ground is one of the world’s great stadiums – and a jewel in Australia’s sporting crown – and the Wallabies are proud to be hosting the All Blacks at the iconic venue in 2027.

“The Wallabies and All Blacks have played only four previous Test matches at the MCG and this Bledisloe Cup encounter will mark 30 years since both teams took to the hallowed turf for the first time. The Wallabies and All Blacks have won two Tests apiece at the ‘G and another enthralling contest awaits next year.

“It is fitting that a year as significant for Australian Rugby as 2027 includes a blockbuster home Test match at the MCG. I would like to extend my sincere thanks to our partners at the Victorian Government, Visit Victoria and New Zealand Rugby for bringing this exciting initiative to life.”
