Rugby Australia joins the Australian Rugby community in mourning the loss of Tim Wedlock, a stalwart of the Gordon Rugby Club and a popular figure across the Sydney Rugby Union.
“Guru”, as Wedlock was affectionately known, was fatally struck by a motor vehicle in Nashville, Tennessee on Saturday. He was 58.
As a player, Wedlock represented the Highlanders in Colts and Grade and was appointed Club Captain.
He continued his passionate support and advocacy for the club over several decades as an accomplished Board Member, Sponsor and through his involvement with the Friends of Gordon Foundation.
“Tim has been the heart and soul of the Gordon club for many years and his tragic loss is sorely felt be everyone at the Stags and across Australian Rugby," Rugby Australia CEO Phil Waugh said.
“He will forever be remembered as the ultimate clubman whose love and support for Gordon spanned decades.
"He was a tireless and selfless contributor to the club as a player, director and sponsor and his impact on the Highlanders will be felt for generations.
"He epitomised the very best qualities our game holds dear.
“On behalf of everyone at Rugby Australia, I express my sincere condolences to Tim’s wife Prue, his children Ash and Matt, and his many friends and colleagues. May he Rest In Peace.”
