Uni-Norths Owls have secured a place in next Saturday’s big dance with the Tuggeranong Vikings after a convincing 55-12 win over the Gungahlin Eagles on Saturday afternoon.

The Owls dominated much of the early stanza threatening the Eagles line. The first points came when fly-half Faitala Moleka put in a clever cross field kick for her outside backs. Amelia Quinn finishing off the play for a 5-0 lead.

Gungahlin responded after shifting their way up field. Loretta Mailangi going close before Evelyn Horomia barged her way over for a 7-5 lead.

However the lead was short lived when Uni-Norths spread the ball out wide after an attacking line out. Fullback Charlie Brigstocke latching on to a looping pass to score behind the posts. Owls up 12-7.

The Owls continued their momentum with a second to Brigstocke, before Owl’s and Brumbies backrower Siokapesi Palu found herself in space to clinch a commanding 26-7 lead.

Gungahlin centre Martha Fua grabbed one back for her side with a barnstorming run to the line. Uni-Norths taking a 26-12 lead into the main break.

The second half started with both sides fighting for possession, before the Owls found themselves a few metres out from the opposition try line. Moleka spotting an overlap out on the left edge for Molly White to score her first of the afternoon.

White would pick up her double in similar fashion before Brigstocke sealed herself a hat trick. The Owls continued to punish the Eagles after yellow cards were handed for high tackles.

Fijiana international Iris Verebalavu continuing the onslaught with a try of her own close to the line to secure a 55-12 win over the Gungahlin Eagles.
