Congratulations, Len Ikitau! Your John Eales Medallist for 2025.

Wallabies centre Len Ikitau will put his Exeter friendships aside for a weekend as the centre looks to showcase his growth following his English stint.

Ikitau will go up against a trio of Chiefs teammates as the Wallabies prepare for Italy on Saturday in Perth.

Stephen Varney, Ross Vintcent and Andrea Zambonin have all been named in Italy's 33-player squad for the trip to Australia.

The quartet, alongside injured back-rower Tom Hooper, featured in Exeter's run to the Premiership Final, which they lost to Northampton last month.

"It was nice to be able to play with a few of them, but they're the enemy now," he said and smiled.

"For us and for myself too, just trying to give a little insight on 'Varns' who plays at nine, and then Zambonin, who's really good on the lineout.

"It'll be good to go up against them."

Ikitau played 13 games for the Chiefs during his sabbatical, returning home to the ACT Brumbies for next season's Super Rugby Pacific.

It allowed the John Eales Medalist to fine-tune his craft at inside centre, with his combination alongside Joseph-Aukuso Suaalii strong against Ireland and France.

The experience came in handy as he guided club teammate Declan Meredith through his Test debut, with Ben Donaldson also pushing for his Test return after a calf injury.

"I've played a lot of 13, but I think as a 12, you have to step up and be that extra pair of hands for your 10," he explained on the difference.

"With the likes of 'Dec' and 'Donno' as well, [there's] experience but just giving 'Dec' some confidence to be able to play his game and just organising the back line, whether that's an attack or defence."
