The second round of women’s NextGen XV program is set to kick off this weekend in Sydney, with teams for the Under 16 and Under 19 games confirmed for Saturday.

Nearly 100 players set to take part across the two fixtures, with the inaugural program focused on helping foster the next generation of Wallaroos and sevens players.

Knox 1 Oval at Knox Grammar School will be the setting for the fixtures, with the U19s Green and Gold teams having already played a first round of action on September 12 at Forshaw Rugby Park, the U19 Greens winning that clash 41-12.

The U16 program, meanwhile, has been participating in a holistic development camp, with tomorrow’s clash marking the culmination of their initial camp.

The program serves as a vital development ground, with RA working alongside member unions and Super Rugby clubs to grow female participation, alongside identifying the nation’s best young talent through existing representative pathways.

Heading into the weekend, U19 Green, coached by Shannon Parry and consisting predominantly of players coming through the ACT Brumbies and NSW Waratahs program, will be looking to clean sweep the series with a second win.

The side is set to be captained by Wallaroo Ruby Anderson, with Australia A Sevens star Darci Turinui also named.

The U19s Gold, coached by Iliseva Batibasaga and featuring players from the Queensland Reds and Western Force programs, will be looking for a swift turnaround, the loss in September showing great glimpses of potential.

With spots also up for grabs for a maiden U21 Trans-Tasman clash with New Zealand later this month, several players on both sides will be looking to impress.

Their match will kick off at 12:30 pm AEST, with the game beforehand, U16s Green and Gold, kicking off at 10:45 am AEST.

Both matches will be broadcast live on both Rugby.com.au website and the Rugby.com.au YouTube channel.
