Wallabies scrumhalf Tate McDermott and backrower Lachlan Swinton have spoken to media from Perth.

Newly signed Force prop Harry Lloyd is set to make a quick detour to Scotland ahead of the 2022 Super Rugby Pacific season, signing with Edinburgh on a short-term deal.

The 26-year-old will be in the Scottish capital until December, plying his trade before joining his old club on a one-year deal.

“I’ve really enjoyed being in Scotland so far. It’s exciting to be joining an ambitious group at what is such a great time for the club,” he said in a statement.

“The opportunity to test myself against quality opposition, alongside this great group of players, is a challenge that I’m looking forward to immensely.

“I’d never been to Scotland before, so It’s been brilliant exploring Edinburgh in the short time I’ve been here. It’s an incredible city, and the weather at the moment is definitely an added bonus.

“I can’t wait to pull on the jersey, represent this city and make sure we get off to a great start in the club’s new home.”

“Harry is an experienced player who’ll be a good fit for this team – we’re really happy that we’ve been able to add him to the squad on a short-term deal,” Head Coach Mike Blair, added.

“He’s seen plenty of game time with the Brumbies and Western Force in recent seasons, so we’re hopeful that he can hit the ground running and contribute from the get-go.

“We’re delighted with the options we’ve currently got at loosehead, with Pierre Schoeman, Boan Venter and Sam Grahamslaw, however the addition of Harry only adds to the quality of that unit. That extra layer of cover and competition is vital in the professional game.”

Lloyd is the second Force player to make the trip overseas as they look to maintain fitness ahead of the 2022 season.

Lock Ryan McCauley is currently in pre-season training with British club Exeter, having made the move last month.

“I’m really looking forward to ripping in,” said McCauley last month.

“I’ve just watched the boys train and now I’m excited to get amongst it all and get involved with training and then the games.

“It’ll be my first experience of rugby over in these parts, but I’ve watched games of the Chiefs and I know it’s a very good and high standard over here.

“As I said, I’m looking forward to learning from the other tight forwards here because there is a great calibre of players here. Also, I just can’t wait to add to my skill-set around line-out, maul and scrum, especially as it used a lot more over here.”
