Wallaroos and Waratahs flyhalf Arabella McKenzie is determined to turn around the side as they prepare for the Western Force.

McKenzie missed the opening-round clash with a concussion, and the team lost 23-17 to the Fijian Drua.

“It was frustrating to watch from the sidelines, but I was really proud of the girls,” McKenzie said to the media.

“Some players were in unfamiliar positions, and we had a few debuts, so the lack of experience showed.

“We’ve had a strong week of training, and we’re focused on getting back to the Waratahs’ way: winning and putting on good performances.”

McKenzie is one of several returning stars for the Waratahs, with Piper Duck (shoulder) and Desiree Miller (concussion) also named.

She slots into flyhalf alongside Tatum Bird, whilst Miller comes onto the wing in a back three that includes Maya Stewart and Waiaria Ellis.

NSW Waratahs coach Mike Ruthven understands the importance of bouncing back quickly against a Force side hungry after their draw with the ACT Brumbies.

“In a four-round competition, you can’t afford to be off your game,” Ruthven believes.

“It’s not about pressure but about the importance of playing good rugby every week. We need to build momentum now.”

"...The Force has recruited well, and it’s great to see talent spread across the competition but recruitment doesn’t always translate to on-field performance.

"We’re expecting a tough contest.”
