Nudgee College flanker Chase Jackson has been named skipper of the Queensland Reds Under-15s side to face the NSW Waratahs at Ballymore Stadium on Saturday.

Jackson will lead the side in a highly-competitive age group after last year's two matches were split one apiece. The 2025 U15s produced a stirring 39-26 win in Sydney to claim the shield after a 38-37 loss at Ballymore a week earlier.

Reds U15s coach Jack Hawksley said Jackson, who began his rugby at Surfers Paradise Junior Rugby Club, had built his case to lead.

"Chase has led through example with his training habits. He's a hard worker willing to do the tough stuff for the team and has been a standout in training with his defensive habits," Hawksley said.

"The Waratahs are always a test. They are physical and always have strike weapons.

"As Queenslanders, we are always led to believe we are "the little brother". It gives us a mental edge that we want to consistently prove them wrong, even more so the goal to retain the shield from last year.

"I believe the key strengths of the side this year are our ability to create quick ball through our breakdown, our physicality and the never-give-up attitude that this group has shown in training."

The 11:45am AEST match is part of a bumper day of age group rugby on Saturday with a Reds Academy U14s match at 10:15am and the Super Rugby U16s decider between the Reds and Waratahs kicking off at 1:30pm.
