Wallaroos and former QLD Reds star Anabelle Codey has inked a one-year deal with the NSW Waratahs Women.

The 6'0" lock kicked off her career through touch rugby at the age of 18, and her swift ascent led Codey to captain the local team Eastern Suburbs side in Brisbane.

Codey then quickly advanced to join the Reds' squad, reaching a pinnacle with her international debut in 2022 against New Zealand.

In 2023 Codey signed with the Loughborough Lightning in the UK. She had a brief stint there before returning to the Reds for the 2023 Super Rugby W (SRW) season.

Codey has been a force to reckon with in the SRW for the last couple of years, even scoring a debut against her new club last season.

Representing the Wallaroos for the past 2 years, Codey adds incredible depth to the second row, lining up with fellow Wallaroos Sera Naiqama & Atasi Lafai.

Head Coach Mike Ruthven is impressed with the physical presence and aggression that Codey brings to the squad.

“Annabelle brings raw aggression and physicality to what is already a very strong forward pack.

She will naturally raise the intensity in that space, and we look forward to seeing the impact of that.

Annabelle has great IP around set piece, and we know she will be a strong influence for us, particularly at lineout time”.
