Cottesloe and Wanneroo have secured their places in the 2026 Men’s Fortescue Premier Grade Grand Final following two action-packed Semi-Finals.
Cottesloe advanced to the Grand Final with an impressive 41-21 victory over Southern Lions, producing a six-try performance to end the Lions’ finals campaign.
Kaho led the way with two tries, while Latu, Mounsey, Winters and Becroft also crossed the line. Taylor was equally influential from the kicking tee, adding four conversion and a penalty goal to help Cottesloe build a decisive advantage.
Southern Lions continued to compete and were rewarded with tries through Hardwick and Tacikalou Naisiroki. Turagava added a conversion and three penalty goals, but the Lions were unable to contain Cottesloe’s attacking output.
The result sends Cottesloe through to the Grand Final as they look to compete an outstanding season in which they have suffered just one defeat.
Wanneroo produced a remarkable second-half comeback before defeating Palmyra 37-31 in extra time in a Semi-Final thriller.
Palmyra took control of the contest early and carried a commanding 31–3 lead into half-time. Siataga and De Wet crossed for tries, with De Wet scoring twice, while a penalty try further added to Palmyra’s tally. Robertson contributed three conversions and a penalty goal.
Facing a 28-point deficit, Wanneroo produced a remarkable second-half comeback. Tries from Saumaki, Wesley, Grattan and Asi, combined with Mainwaring’s accurate goal-kicking, brought Wanneroo level at 31–31 by the end of regulation time.
With neither side able to be separated after regulation time, the match heading into extra time. Mainwaring stepped up to kick two penalty goals, completing Wanneroo’s comeback and securing a dramatic six-point victory. Mainwaring finished the match with four conversions and three penalty goals.
The results set up a huge Grand Final between Wanneroo and Cottesloe at Wanneroo Rugby Club on Saturday, 29 August. Wanneroo will have the opportunity to defend their 2025 premiership on their home ground, while Cottesloe will look to cap off a dominant season by lifting the trophy.
