Prolific try-scorer Maya Stewart has been recalled to the Wallaroos squad for the final two Test matches of the season against Scotland in Sydney (October 17) and Canberra (October 23).

Stewart missed the European leg of the WXV Global Series due to an Achilles injury but has made a full recovery to take her place in an updated 30-player squad announced on Wednesday.

The 26-year-old’s return sees Piper Flynn make way, while Hera-Barb Malcolm Heke (knee) and Tia Hinds (personal leave) are unavailable.

The squad is otherwise the same as the group who travelled to Europe for the away Test matches of the WXV Global Series in England, France and Scotland.

The Wallaroos will be chasing three wins on the trot against Scotland over the next fortnight after a 30-10 victory recently in Edinburgh. It is the first time Scotland will tour Australian shores.

Director of Women’s High Performance Tim Walsh said: “We’re looking forward to hosting Scotland on home soil and in front of our fans in gold next week as part of a quadruple header in Sydney.

“During our recent tour of Europe we had some success in aspects of our game but lacked the consistency for a performance to be really proud of.

“Having played and beaten Scotland recently, our understanding of each other has grown. We will need to be far better than we were in Edinburgh to achieve the outcome we desire.

“Maya Stewart returns for us and brings plenty of experience out wide.”

Former Wallaroos captain Shannon Parry will also join the coaching staff as an assistant for the remaining two matches of the series.

Parry played 24 Tests for Australia including 19 as captain. She previously took charge of the U19 NextGen side while she was an assistant coach at the Queensland Reds for Swyftx Super Rugby Women's this season.

The Wallaroos will assemble in Sydney on Sunday ahead of an historic quadruple header featuring the Wallaroos, Wallabies and Australia Sevens teams on October 17 at Accor Stadium.

Tickets to the historic quadruple header featuring the Wallaroos, Wallabies and Australia Sevens are available through Ticketmaster.
