Fullback Tom Wright was at his brilliant best with a double, allowing the hosts to take a 29-14 lead at the break.
His second was the highlight of the half, producing a try of the year contender in the 38th minute.
The game was in the balance when Wright boldly chipped across-field from the Brumbies' line when they had momentum, finding flying winger Corey Toole in traffic.
Toole, who did his own Test case no harm with another scything display, veered back in-field and found Wright again for a daring full-field try.

Pasifika, who are now 2-3, kept early pace when they twice exposed a thin left-side Brumbies defence and scored through Kyren Taumoefolau and Lotu Inisi.
Even down a player, the Brumbies brought up the half century thanks to a trio of late tries.
Wright iced his display with a polished assist for Toole and a try of his own in a two-minute burst in the final stages.
It sets up a thrilling match against the Reds next week in Brisbane, returning to the top four.
