New Wallaroos hooker Katalina Amosa is excited to join a special group of siblings to play for Australia.

Amosa will start on Saturday against Fijiana after being named at hooker for the match in Suva, almost seven months on from brother Brandon Paenga-Amosa started for the Wallabies on the Spring Tour against Ireland.

It caps a remarkable comeback for the 23-year-old after a long-term knee injury hampered her 2024 season.

"It was very exciting, I was ecstatic. I was next to a couple of the Force girls, and they got around me and then I was able to let my family know and there were plenty of happy tears," she told reporters.

"I just wanted to get back into just consistent Super games and that was my main focus.

"Obviously, the World Cup is the main goal, but I didn't think it was in reach, to be honest, and to get this opportunity, I'm really grateful and blessed in a way."

The Amosas will become the third sister-brother combo to play Test Rugby for Australia, with brother Brandon debuting in 2018.

Ironically, the last pair to do was Adiana and Sam Talakai, with the Waratah likely to play against Fiji before pulling out due to personal reasons.

The two share the same levels of humour, with Katalina joking the Force hooker turned to Rugby after she caught up to him when the pair were focused on swimming.

"I think he cried more for me than for his own debut. I called him and he was all red and flustered," she joked.

"He was really excited. He's been giving me advice every day I think since I told him but just mostly he just wants me to enjoy it and just have fun out there.

"He just told me to go do my job and just make the family proud, really."

Amosa will share the moment alongside fellow debutant Faliki Pohiva, with six fresh faces named in the 23.

"She's actually my roommate as well, so I think it's a testament to her season that she's had at the Tahs," she added.

"It wasn't fun playing against her, so I'm really happy that I'll be able to scrum next to her and also to see her play her best rugby out there."
