Australian duo Mack Hansen and Sione Tuipulotu have been named in Andy Farrell's starting British & Irish Lions XV to tackle the Western Force on Saturday.

Hansen has been elevated to the right wing after making his Lions debut off the bench during last week's loss to Argentina.

He forms a potent back-three with Ireland teammate James Lowe and English veteran Elliot Daly while Tuipulotu shifts to inside centre alongside Garry Ringrose.

Scotland ace Finn Russell makes his first appearance of the tour at flyhalf, partnering Welshman Tomos Williams, with Alex Mitchell, Marcus Smith and the uncapped Huw Jones providing bench cover.

Up front, Irish hooker Dan Sheehan has been named captain with tour skipper Maro Itoje rotated out. Sheehan will pack down between countryman Tadgh Furlong and Scotland's Pierre Schoeman.

Scott Cummings (Scotland) and Joe McCarthy (Ireland) combine in the engine room with Tadgh Beirne moving to blindside flanker.

Former World Rugby player of the year Josh van der Flier makes his first tour appearance at openside flanker with firebrand Henry Pollock shifting to number eight.

Props Andrew Porter and Will Stuart have also been named for their first Lions appearances off the pine alongside lock Ollie Chessum.

In total, Farrell has named five starting debutants with a further four set to earn their maiden cap off the bench.

“We have had a good week of training and all of the travel and time zone changes have been managed really well, so we are good to go," Lions coach Andy Farrell said in a statement.

“Dan Sheehan gets the opportunity to lead the side against Western Force, which is a great honour for him and his family - so congratulations to Dan as he captains the side on his Lions debut.

“We know the quality and experience the Force have and the opportunity to play against the Lions always brings out special performances from the Super Rugby sides, so we expect them to be at their best.”
