Australia Sevens trio Amahli Hala, Kahli Henwood and Kaitlin Shave have signed new contract extensions through to the 2028 Los Angeles Olympics.

Hala will eye a maiden Olympics campaign after agreeing to a two-year deal while Henwood and Shave will chase a second Olympics each after debuting in Paris.

Hala is an emerging young gun in the Australia Sevens system who has come through the Queensland ranks to the top squad.

The Coomera product was a member of Australia's U18s Girls Sevens side that won the Global Youth Sevens title in Auckland in 2023 before going on to win a gold medal at the Youth Commonwealth Games.

Hala made her Australian Sevens debut at the Hong Kong event in 2025, scoring a try with her first touch.

Henwood made her international Sevens debut as an injury cover at the Olympics, coincidently for Shave, who suffered an ACL injury on Day 1 in Paris in 2024.

Shave is a former track sprinter, who transitioned more permanently to rugby soon after, where she was the standout player from the NextGen Sevens series.

Shave was selected for the Aussie 7s program in 2022 before making her debut the following year in Dubai.

Shave enjoyed a strong maiden season prior to injury and returned in 2026 to help Australia win the World Championship title.

Director of Women’s High Performance Tim Walsh said: “Kaitlin returned from her knee injury and found some incredible form during the World Championship winning 2025/2026 season.

“Maturing into a world class player with a powerful point of difference, Kaitlin has found a habit in scoring match-winning tries, none more memorable to beat New Zealand in Valladolid.

“Amahli is nearing the end of her international Sevens apprenticeship and is more than ready to stamp her authority on the world stage.

“A ruthless competitor, an engine always full of fuel and desire to be better makes her a valued Aussie Sevens rugby player.

“The omnipresent Kahli is ever-reliable, composed and versatile. She drives standards, competes for everything and is authentic in every way.”
