Former All Blacks backrower Pita Gus Sowakula has been included in Fiji's rugby squad to play three Tests in Britain and Europe in November.

The 30-year-old is one of three newcomers to the squad, along with props Tim Hoyt and Atunaisa Sokobale.

Hoyt currently plays in England for the Worcester Warriors and Sokobale in France for Castres Olympique.

Sowakula played two Tests for New Zealand in 2022 before changing allegiance to Fiji, completing a three-year residential stand-down on July 9th of this year. Sowakula has also played international basketball for Fiji.

The news comes as good timing for the Fijians, with Selesitino Ravutaumada, First Nations & Pasifika XV stars Mesake Vocevoce, Mesake Doge and Ponepati Loganimasi, and Isaiah Armstong Ravula all included.

Head coach Mick Byrne named the 32-player squad in Suva on Thursday, with the side fresh off defeating Japan last month in the 2025 Pacific Nations Cup final in Salt Lake City, claiming their seventh title.

The Flying Fijians will be embarking on a three-match tour in November, and will be determined to nab another big scalp after defeating Wales for the first time in Cardiff on their 2024 tour.

Fiji will play England at Twickenham on November 9, France on November 16, and Spain on November 22.
