The Waratahs U19s have made five changes to their side for a fixture against the Brumbies at Rat Park on Sunday (3PM kick-off).
Despite a close defeat against the Reds at the Santos Festival of Rugby last weekend, the U19s are ready to bounce back against the Brumbies with Tyson Burden, Mostyn Bowen, Flynn Hyndman, Matavius-James Petaia and Tom Hartman all coming into the side
Andrew Cleverley says his team are looking forward to writing some wrongs on Sunday.
“The Waratahs U19 squad is looking to bounce back from a disappointing result in Roma on Saturday, with a big focus on defence structure and tackle accuracy. The team knows it let itself down on Saturday and they certainly want to fix that,” Cleverley said.
“After a long weekend in Roma and a tough last play loss the boys are focused on a big performance this Sunday. A few changes to the team should provide the spark needed for a good performance.”
Jonty Fowler captains the Waratahs again at Rat Park, bringing pace,strategy and control from the fly-half position.
Burden (prop) and Hyndman (flanker) make their way to the starting 15, following a try from each in the second-half last weekend.
Bowen also moves from the replacements to partnervice-captain Charlie Galligan in the second-row.
Two Blues’ scrum-half Petaia also moves from the bench to the starting XV, ready to provide quick thinking and a strong link between the forwards and backs.
Centre positions remainthe same, with Josh Barr and James Archer, who both scored two tries for the Waratahs in their previous match.
Tom O’Hara and Tyler Birnie remain in the back three, with Hartman stepping into the starting right-wing position.
The U19s side defeated the Brumbies 62-38 in Bungendore, with 10 tries and a strong second-half resurgence.
