Double-Header Locked In as Brumbies Super W Set for Blockbuster Trials

The ACT Brumbies Swyftx Super Rugby Women's side has locked in a scintillating pre-season schedule ahead of the 2026 campaign, headlined by a marquee clash against reigning premiers the NSW Waratahs at GIO Stadium as part of a Super Rugby Pacific double-header featuring the Brumbies men’s side against Moana Pasifika.

The Super W team will run out at GIO on May 30 (12:05pm), kicking off a blockbuster day of rugby in Canberra.

It shapes as a statement occasion for the side, offering fans an early look at the squad against the competition benchmark.

The Brumbies’ pre-season begins two weeks earlier with another heavyweight test, hosting the Queensland Reds in Canberra on May 17 (1:00pm), with venue details to be confirmed.

Both fixtures pit the Brumbies against last year’s Super W grand finalists, providing a strong measure of progress as the squad builds toward the new season.

Preparation is already ramping up, with the squad integrating new talent and focusing on combinations ahead of the trials, as they look to take a step forward in 2026.

Merania Paraone and the ACT Brumbies Super W side are set for a blockbuster pre-season featuring clashes with the NSW Waratahs and Queensland Reds.

Brumbies Super W centre, Merania Paraone said her team has reflected on last year, and will look to improve in 2026. Paraone has been in impressive form, recently earning selection alongside teammate Georgina Hayes in the inaugural Next Gen 7s Team of the Series, which has formed part of the pre-seaon preparation.

"We won't necessarily forget about last year, it gives us a bit of drive and motivation to be better," Paraone said.

"our focus in pre-season is to get all the girls on the bandwagon, giving them real confidence and trust in their own abilities. Working with each other’s strengths helps me be better as a player."

With quality opposition, a major stadium hit-out and a double-header atmosphere, the Brumbies’ Super W pre-season is set to deliver an early spark to their 2026 campaign.
