ACT Brumbies Under-16s have named a 31-player squad for the 2025 Super Rugby tournament, with five players returning from last year.
Geoff Olivetti, Laine Jud-Brettingham and Sam Filipovic (Marist College), Levi Park (St Edmund’s College) and Oscar Dossetor (Griffith) all participated in 2024 and will look to bring their previous experience to the fore for this year’s group.
Dossetor is also one of three players to feature from regional NSW, with Michael Parrisotto (also Griffith) and Oscar Brady (Leeton) named in the squad. Paul Mead will be the team’s head coach.
Team manager Joseph Rollings was excited by the prospect of his talented squad coming together for four fixtures, before a possible Grand Final in November.
“We’re delighted with the talent that we’ve been able to pull together from around the ACT and regional NSW,” Rollings said.
“Having those players involved from the likes of Griffith and Leeton is a big bonus to us as a club and shows that we are finding talent in our rural catchment areas.
“The five guys who are coming back for a second tilt is also a big plus and for them being able to draw on their experience for the rest of the squad.”
In 2024, the Brumbies U16s finished third of five, with a 36-17 win over the Melbourne Rebels in Round 1, before a one-point loss against the Force in Round 2 and further defeats against the Reds and the Waratahs.
They will start their season off against the Waratahs in a bumper triple header with the under-19s and Super Rugby Aus sides at Viking Park on Saturday 27 September, with further matches against the Force (Saturday 11th October), Victoria (Saturday 18th October) and the Reds (Saturday 25th October). The tournament grand final will take place on Sunday 2nd November, with the location still to be confirmed.
