Returning star Madison Ashby co-captains the side, joined by Kaitlan Shave, with the pair missing last season due to injuries.

As for the Men, they have three debutants, including former NSW Waratahs outside back Harry Wilson.

Liam Barry's team has been forced into one change since last week's team naming, with Hadley Tonga replacing Ben Dowling (quad).

Follow a recap of all the action, game by game below:
Australia Women 31 v Japan Women 7

Australia has started their Dubai title defence with a 31-7 win over Japan.

It was the co-captains that set the tempo with Bella Nasser's pilfer penalty providing the turnover for Teagan Levi to strike, followed by Madison Ashby setting up Faith Nathan for a 12-7 lead.

Maddison Levi got in on the action in the second half with a double as the Aussies fended off some quality fightback from Japan.

Nasser sealed the win with three minutes left, running 90 metres for a 14-point swing after the Japanese incredibly dropped the ball over the line untouched 30 seconds earlier.
