Rugby.com.au breaks down the best from the weekend that was.
50-cap centre Samu Kerevi has maintained his red-hot form to start the Japan Rugby League One season for Urayasu D-Rocks.
Kerevi scored the opener with a runaway intercept try in the 13th minute to go with nine tackle busts and two line breaks as the D-Rocks held on for a 28-22 win over Yokohama Canon Eagles.
The standout showing sees the centre top of the charts for metres (382), second for tackle busts (32) and third for offloads (eight).
Bernard Foley remains top of the point scoring table (68) after his 11-point haul helped Kubota Spears to a 45-21 victory over Mie Honda Heat. This included a try in the 10th minute to remain unbeaten after four matches alongside Marika Koroibete's Saitama Wild Knights.
Koroibete set up a pair of try assists and led the team for line breaks (three) in their 37-22 win over Shizuoka BlueRevs.
Further matches saw Sean McMahon stand out in defeat for Tokyo Sungoliath, recording three turnovers and 15 tackles in a 22-20 defeat to Kobelco Kobe Steelers.
Wallabies backrower Langi Gleeson has made his successful return from injury on debut for Montpellier in their thrilling Challenge Cup win over Connacht.
The former Waratah last featured in the historic Ellis Park comeback win over the Springboks in August.
Gleeson delivered a busy 25-minute shift with seven carries, but it was another Aussie that proved the match-winner as former Force back-rower Alex Masibaka secured the game-winning turnover in the 33-31 win.
Former Brumby Joe Powell was excellent off the bench for US Montauban, nearly inspiring a comeback with three line break assists and a try assist in a 31-28 loss to Georgian club Black Lion.
Tom Hooper was also strong for Exeter with 14 carries as ex-Brumby Scott Sio's double was in vain as they went down 27-25 to Stade Francais, with Ryan Smith and Jack Walsh both strong in Ospreys' 23-19 loss to Zebre.
Angus Bell (Ulster) and Taniela Tupou (Racing 92) were rested, while young front-rower Lehopa Leota made his debut at hooker for the French club, winning a turnover in the 32-13 defeat to Cardiff.
In the Champions Cup, Will Skelton made his first start for La Rochelle since November in a 25-24 loss to Leinster.
Irae Simone scored off the bench for Clermont in their 33-21 defeat to Glasgow, while Adam Coleman recorded double-digit carries and tackles for Bordeaux as they were victorious 50-28 against Northampton.
