Alex Horan, son of Wallabies legend Tim, will push for a spot with the Sunwolves in the Japanese outfit's last Super Rugby season.

Horan was announced as one of four additions to the Sunwolves training squad on Sunday night, just under four weeks out from the season.

The 22-year-old inside back has been a regular for UQ in Queensland Premier Rugby and has been in the Canberra Vikings and Brisbane City NRC squads.

Horan is one of a number of Aussies in the Sunwolves mix, with Ben Hyne, Jake Schatz and Jordan Jackson-Hope in the Japanese side's main squad.

The Sunwolves play one trial match before round one of Super Rugby, against a Barbarians outfit on January 25.

This is set to be the Sunwolves' final Super Rugby season after the JRFU withdrew its funding for the team and SANZAAR made the call to axe them from the competition.
