Queensland backrower Caleb Timu has been cited for a clash in Friday night's Reds-Sunwolves match.

Timu was yellow-carded for a cleanout on Sunwolves flyhalf Hayden Parker in the 43rd minute of the Reds' win over the Japanese outfit, that was marred by refereeing controversies.

SANZAAR's judicial committee found Timu's offence met the red card threshold, forcing the no. 8 to face a judicial hearing.

Ed Quirk will also face a judicial hearing via video link on Sunday 5pm AEST over his red card offence.

Quirk has been found to have broken Law 9.12: A player must not physically abuse anyone. Physical abuse includes, but is not limited to striking with hand or arm.

His send-off frustrated coaches and players on both sides on Friday night, with a public outcry over the questionable card.
