Karmichael Hunt hasn't been cleared to play for his club side, Norths, this weekend, having met with the QRU on Wednesday to discuss his future at the Reds.
Hunt met with QRU CEO Richard Barker and general manager Sam Cordingley on Wednesday to discuss his future at the club and it's understood that his "voluntary stand-down" from rugby is far from over.
He will not play in Norths' clash with Sunnybank as he is yet to clear internal protocols and it's understood coach Brad Thorn is reluctant to welcome the troubled star back into his squad with open arms.
RUGBY.com.au understands Hunt's manager, David Riolo, is in the process of trying to find a new home for Hunt, abroad, though those talks haven't progressed particularly far at this point.
That leaves Hunt in no mans land, unwanted by the brains trust at Ballymore and without a place to play overseas.
When contacted for comment, the QRU offered only this line.
"Discussions between QRU and Karmichael have begun and are ongoing as we work through the implications of Rugby Australia’s decisions earlier this week," a spokesman said.
