Commonwealth Games Sevens nations confirmed

The Commonwealth Games Sevens lineup has been confirmed on Thursday, with the tournament four months away.

Australia’s men will be part of a 16-team competition, with most of the international heavyweights also Commonwealth nations.

Outside of the usual World Series teams will be some new faces including Jamaica, Malaysia, Zambia and Sri Lanka.

There are just eight teams in the women’s competition, but all of the top nations will be among the 2018 Commonwealth Games contingent.

New Zealand and Canada will be among the sides competing for gold, while Wales and Kenya will be non-World Series sides.

The Pools and schedule will be confirmed early in 2018.

The Commonwealth Games Sevens kick off on April 13, 2018, running until April 15.
